Metalstep was the baby that Flowerheart had the day before she left, so Metalstep barely has even seen his mother at all. Metalstep was told the truth about his real mother early on just like Dirtyfur. He and Dirtyfur are very close and they always feel better when they meet the other when they have a bad day. Metalstep is just as curious about his mother as Dirtyfur is, but also chooses to stay in part because of his sister.
